If you can’t find a movie to watch this month, you are not trying hard enough. From the big screen to the fairly large one at home, there are plenty of 2022 films to check out this November. Jim and Teal have been hard a work, seeing a lot of stuff, and they wanted to use this episode to tell you about all of the things you can see in a theater, or watch Streaming at home.
What has Jim seen recently? Weird: The Al Yankovich Story, available on Roku Channel. Maybe it isn’t quite the true biopic of a musical song parody icon one might expect; on the other hand, it’s exactly what you should expect. Other films Jim watched in recent weeks: Causeway, with Jennifer Lawrence (Apple +), Smile (Paramount +), Don’t Worry Darling (HBO MAX), and a couple movies playing in theaters. Jim went out and saw the 2022 Cannes Best Direction Award-Winning, Decision to Leave, directed by Park Chan-Wook, and the latest by Writer/Director, Martin McDonagh, The Banshees of Inisherin.
What’s Teal been up to? Well, he hasn’t seen as many of the new films as Jim has, but he’s been doing some research for an upcoming episode, so we’ll forgive him. But he did catch David O’Russell’s Amsterdam, and he made Jim watch a creepy Blumhouse film called Soft & Quiet. And you’ll have to listen to the episode, but let’s just say, Jim may never forgive him.
Finally, as the episode draws to a close, Jim and Teal get to the main event, a movie they think is one of the year’s best, Todd Field’s Tar, with Cate Blanchett in a tour-de-force performance. There is so much to say about Tar that Jim and Teal decided to split that conversation off onto its own episode, which will debut in about a week. So, be on the lookout for that!
In the meantime, if you are wondering what films you should take a peek at, have a listen; Jim and Teal will give you the recommendations.
